Grow a Day Older

If everything has been written down, so why worry? We say. It’s you and me with a little left of sanity. If life is ever changing, so why worry? We say. It’s still you and I with the silliest smile as we wave good bye.
(Dee, Grow a Day Older)
After long being apart, here we are. From all the good days after that, this day is the day I wanna share.
He and I just arrived from his friend’s wedding. It was April 28th, 2012 at 9 PM. When he picked me up from the office, he already had a cake with him. I ignored it. Besides, he said he was late because he had to run errands. I was very tired back then for the wedding was terribly crowded! I was just sitting there with him in the living room of my house. That day we were wearing a most similar attire since he wanted us to be in a uniform in his friend’s wedding. We were wearing a dark blue shirt. I asked him whether he wanted to drink something. He said he wanted something warm to drink. Well, it was strange because he always said: “whatever you please” before. Again, I ignored the sign. Then he insisted me to bring my notebook to the living room because he wanted to give me a movie. I said I had many movies I hadn’t watched.
We were talking so many things as usual about one hour. Until finally:
He: OK, I give up!
Me: Heh? What?
He: You supposed to go inside, and I prepared this, and when you came.. it’s a surprise for you!
I was sitting there.. couldn’t say anything while he was preparing the candles and the others. My reaction was..
Me: My birthday is tomorrow.
He: I know it’s two hours early, but I want to be the first to say happy birthday.
Me: … (speechless)
He: So, now you have to blow the candles. Happy birthday..
Me: (blowing the candles) eh.. can I blow the last candle using my nose?
He: Oookay.. up to you.
Me: (blowing the last candle)
He: Look, I know you already have this one, but… I think you want to have a blue one.
Then he gave me a mukena, the white one, with some blue flowers on it. And by the way, I could barely say anything since the happiness attacked me in a rush so I was still in a state of ensuring myself that everything was real. THIS was real.
Thank You, Allah..for all the happiness, blessings, and gifts You’ve given to me until  now.
And Thanks for you to be my best accompany on the day I was growing a day older. Honestly, I never felt something like this before. That was my best countdown to April 29th. The best ever ! There’s a song and a short story with the same title with this post. they’re written by Dee, my favorite writer. So inspiring, that’s why I use the title.
I’m thankful for this moment cause I know that IGrow a day older and see how this sentimental fool can beWhen he picks up lines to make me laughWhen he’s getting lost in all his thoughtsWhen we can’t wait to say…………I love you……..(Dee, Grow a Day Older (with some changes))
He: What do you wish for?
Me: It’s a secret :)

Sepotong Roti Bakar

14 April 2012

“Oh, buat Miss-nya toh rotinya. Dikirain buat apa dipotong,” ibunya berkata sambil tersenyum.
Reaksi spontanku memang tidak terlalu bagus. Jadi aku hanya bengong disana memandang wajah polos dengan mata besar, dan tangan mungilnya menyodorkan sepotong roti bakar padaku. Ia ingin berbagi denganku. Aku takjub. Aku terdiam beberapa detik menikmati adegan ini. Sampai akhirnya aku menerima pemberiannya.
